A model of the Hope Brothers Ltd factory, which was later run by Burberrys has been donated to the Society’s archive.
The model, which was made by Littleport model maker Bev Scott is made from memory and photographs, and was built over 5 weeks using materials such as softwood, super glue, and model paint, with household scourers for trees.
When asked what inspired him to make a model of the factory, Bev explains that it was a family connection;
“My Mum and Nana both worked at the Factory site, my Nana folding and packing the shirts in Hope Brothers, and Mum working many years in Burberry’s office”.

The 3-dimensional model recreates the factory and yard, which still stands on the corner of Victoria Street and White Hart Lane (formerly Factory Lane), Littleport.
The factory model is far from Bev’s first, as he believes he’s made about 26 models now, which include Littleport’s St. George’s Church and St. John’s Methodist Church, Kings Lynn Speedway, Ely Cathedral, HMS Prince of Wales Aircraft Carrier, The Ark Church at Isleham, and Tower Bridge in London. He has also made a range of ships and boats, and models showing his work over 40+ years on the rivers in flood defence, river maintenance and environmental enhancement.
With the factory model now in our Archive, Bev is already busily working on his next model – Windsor Castle!
