Our long-serving Chairman Roger Rudderham, has retired as Chairman and from the Society’s Committee.

Roger, who has been on the Committee since the Society’s formation in 1987, has been Chairman since his election at the AGM in 2016, where he succeeded Alan Summerside.

Roger has dedicated his work to researching and sharing the history of Littleport – it’s places, it’s people and curious customs, and has written numerous books on Littleport and the surrounding local history, as well as led guided history tours of Littleport.

During his tenure on the Committee, he was the Society’s President – a role that saw him formally open the Society’s archive and office at The Barn in June 2001.

The Committee are truly thankful for all of his hard work over the years. Whilst he retires from the position of Chair, and from an active role on the Committee, he will continue to volunteer as Editor of our quarterly magazine for members, and continue to volunteer in our Archive at The Barn each Tuesday.

Roger was succeeded in the role of Chair by the election of John Goodge at the 2026 AGM.
