We are deeply saddened to hear the news that our friend and former Chairman, Grenville Goodson, has died at the age of 81 years.

Grenville was a driving force within The Littleport Society. He and his wife Margaret were amongst our founding members in 1987, and he went on to become our third and longest-serving Chairman from 1992 to 2013, having taken over from Bob Browning.

His enthusiasm for all things Littleport was tireless.

Grenville had also been a Greengrocer in Littleport, as well as serving as a member of Littleport Parish Council from 1973 until 1995, of which he was Chairman from 1989-1991.

He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by The Littleport Society Committee and the many Society members whom he met in our archive and in our exhibition tent over the years at The Littleport Show.

His legacy and passion for Littleport’s history will live on, and is a foundation of our continued work.

A Service of Thanksgiving will take place on Wednesday 10th September 2025, at 11am at St George’s Church, Littleport – find out more details about this and share memories of Grenville at his MuchLoved page.
